Why Official Negligence is So Prevalent,

Introduction

Wherever you look, the incumbent governments are indifferent to and ignorant about what is happening in different departments. Due to administrative inaction, the officials are increasingly promoting red tape and bribery. Therefore, ordinary citizens have to bribe the concerned officials to avoid institutional coldness. Under the official patronage, these officials have been asking for money in the guise of donations to party funds or administrative upgrades.

Reasons for Mismanagement

There are a number of reasons for me for this bureaucratic indifference.

1. Government Indifference: Since there is no government intervention, babus or officials have become so emboldened that they have become insensitive to the genuine demands from the common man.
2. Job Security: The government employees are aware of their job security. They also know that, in the worst-case scenario, they might be suspended or transferred to another location. This awareness has led to official negligence and carelessness.
3. Pending Transfers: Many officials are getting stuck in different departments for more years due to institutional coldness. This allows them to develop rapport with outside entities. The red tape in the department can be avoided by payment of money to the officials.
4. Nexus with Trouble Makers: Troublemakers or goons get the tasks assigned for hefty compensations. This assignment is given by officials and politicians. The influential people, moreover, provide patronage for them. They help gundolas to escape from the clutches of law. The common man does not dare to point out the bureaucratic inaction due to fear of coercion by these gundas.
5. Manipulation of Law: Politicians misinterpret the existing laws in a way that suits them. Their interpretation is then passed on to their followers to spread them to different parts of the society. The ordinary citizens, for want of time, do not think about the consequences of these twisted interpretations and accept what has been told to them. This approach has given rise to the work culture that promotes administrative inertia.
6. Political Intervention: Some officials team up with the politicians and help them to finish their tasks swiftly. Such officials have become lethargic.
